Dean Park Nursery Bournemouth Celebrates Good Ofsted Report
Dean Park Day Nursery in Bournemouth is described by OFSTED as having a consistent team of staff who build warm and trusting relationships with the children.
OFSTED rated the central Bournemouth nursery as “Good” and provided it with an excellent report post their visit on the 17th April. The inspectors emphasised the strong management team, the consistent staffing who act as “role models who help children to develop positive behaviour and attitudes, and good social skills” and who are “quick to respond to children's spontaneous interests”.
Inspectors praised various areas of the nursery, highlighting that children of all ages explore confidently within the safe and secure playrooms, gardens and grounds. They go on to recognise that the staff at the nursery deliver ‘a broad curriculum, tailored to meet each child's personal interests and developmental needs’. Dean Park’s extensive outdoor areas (including a playground and astroturf) in addition to the co-located Little Crickets Forest School are all part of the wonderful provision provided by the nursery.
Rachel Zito, Nursery Manager at Dean Park, says “We would like to thank the entire Dean Park community for helping to make the nursery an amazing place for children to start their educational journey. We are particularly proud that the report states our staff interact with enthusiasm in children's play and that they help them to succeed with their learning goals in activities they are interested in.”
Rachel adds, “Every day I see wonderful things taking place in the nursery between children and our practitioners, but it was especially heart warming to read that the inspectors witnessed children ‘shriek in delight’ when playing with staff. This is a daily occurrence and one that brings pure joy.”
John Forsyth, Chairman, comments “Over the past 9 months, we have worked incredibly hard to build a team of dedicated and caring professionals who demonstrate exceptional ability in their childcare practices. We are pleased to see that OFSTED found our staff to be good role models who help children to develop positive behaviour and attitudes, and good social skills.” He adds, “Crucially, Dean Park Nursery’s safeguarding is found to be effective, and Ofsted recognise that there is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first.”
Inspectors praised ‘excellent’ partnerships with parents, going on to say that staff keep parents closely informed and involved in their children's all-round development. Nursery parents receive frequent newsletters and are invited to join stay and play events with their children. They collaborate through a parent-partnership committee.
Kelly Goldsmith, a parent whose daughter joined Dean Park Nursery in September 2023 comments “Everyone goes out of their way to get to know the children and enhance their day to day lives and education. With the regular updates and fantastic observations, I simply could not ask for more.”
