Here at Dean Park Day Nursery, we understand that when it’s time for your child to move on from their nursery setting to the next stage of their education, they have reached an important milestone. That’s why our experienced staff ensure that each child leaves Dean Park thoroughly prepared for entry into ‘big school’.
Children at Dean Park Day Nursery enjoyed a day of sporting activities recently at their annual Sports Day. The staff at the day nursery, which is located at the historic Cooper Dean Pavilion, were able to really make the most of the spacious grounds it sits within and set up a carousel of different sports for even the youngest of children to try out.
While the babies enjoyed their own special sporting event in the baby garden, the older children moved around six different stations of sports across the field that included throwing the javelin, quoits, beanbag throwing and mini hurdles. Dressed in their team colours of red, blue, green and yellow, the girls and boys cheered in delight as they took their turns at each event. All the activities were designed and set up by experienced staff to challenge and develop the children’s fine and gross motor skills as well as hand-eye co-ordination, all of which are key areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
What’s more, families were welcomed to the nursery’s sports pitch to watch their children take part and enjoy the friendly, warm atmosphere that Dean Park always offers. The best part of the day was the final activity, a series of running races for the children, staff and parents. While the grown-ups donned their trainers, the children sped down the pitch squealing in excitement, ready to watch their families and nursery key workers run their races. The day ended with each child being awarded a certificate of participation for their excellent efforts.

Staff at Dean Park Day Nursery were delighted to welcome a visit from our local Westbourne Fire Station recently. The firefighters brought their magnificent fire engine – or “appliance” as we learnt it should be called – for the whole nursery to experience it first-hand.
